Our Fund Advisory Committee reviews grant applications on a quarterly basis.

Our Process

Grant applications will be reviewed and considered quarterly. The selection committee will review all applications and may request additional information. We cannot guarantee that every grant proposal will be funded, or that you will receive the full amount requested.

What We Fund

The Pender-Thurston Education Community Foundation supports 501(c)(3) public charities and governmental entities for charitable activities. We encourage grant requests or programs that are consistent with our mission and values and….

  • Will impact the lives of members within our community.

  • Grow partnership with the philanthropic organizations in Pender & Thurston

  • Propose ways to address emerging community issues and needs

  • Solve problems or capture opportunities

  • Achieve measurable outcomes/results rather than ongoing operating support

  • Support community development and growth

  • Encourage others to get involved and knit our community together

Past Grant Recipients

Pendragon Sports Complex

We worked with their fundraising committee on a three-year matching grant from our fund to help spur their fundraising efforts.

Pender Public Schools

We’ve partnered with Pender Public Schools in various ways from supporting their students in need of counseling as well as grants to support teacher development, FFA classroom models and defibrillators for the school.

Pender Economic Development

We worked with the Pender Economic Development board on a feasibility study for their housing development.

Village of Pender

We’ve provided support to the Village of Pender with the funding to create a website for our community as well as pool and playground equipment to update our recreational areas.

Pender Community Center

Our FAC funded the initial engineering study before the facility broke ground and has supported their community outreach efforts since their opening.

Main Street Thriftique

We gave $3,500 in start-up costs to our local volunteer-run Main Street Thriftique which has now given over $400K back to the community.
